An easy-to-follow cardio dance class to pop and hip hop music that emphasizes community, expression, and joy.
Sometimes you hear a song, and you just want to drop everything and dance.
That’s what Stop Drop And Dance strives to be: easy-to-follow, fun, cardio movements that first-timers can pick up quickly, but regulars can take to their fullest, dream-to-be-a-backup-dancer, desire.
It is an environment that celebrates everyone, emphasizes community, feels safe, encourages freedom, and allows expression.
Stop Drop And Dance is more than just dance moves.
It is an outward expression of our heart and spirit.
All ages are welcome; in fact it is not uncommon for daughters to be dancing with their mothers AND grandmothers!
All you need is a good pair of shoes, workout clothes, water, and an open heart.
I’ve been a dancer all my life, and it was always about perfection, about standing out, and about where I stood on stage. I had only known dance as a competitive sport, and all that mattered was how I looked in the mirror.
Dance is more than that.
I created Stop Drop And Dance because I wanted to dance without mirrors, without complicated moves, and without any judgment around what was “right” or what was “wrong.” Could dance be an experience where I could get out of my head and the need for perfection, and instead be an expression of freedom and release?
Yes. It can.
I hope you feel joy when you dance with us. I hope you feel safe. I hope you feel free. And I know you will find it is quite the cardio workout (you choose your intensity!). Stop Drop And Dance has become a regular community where friends bring friends and family brings family of all ages. It has become a once a year 3-hour Dance-A-Thon party. One of my goals this year is to try and become an online community too.
This is the beginning of a new chapter in my life, and it is titled: Trial and Trust.
I officially trademarked the name Stop Drop And Dance and formed The Power With Grace, LLC as the parent company. As any new small business owner probably starts out, I have had many sleepless nights, spent too much money, and already made more mistakes than successes. I am terrified, and lost at times.
What I do know, is that I believe.
I invite you to join me on this journey of spreading Stop Drop And Dance to dancers and non-dancers who might love what we do. It is my passion, my heart, my healing place. I hope it can be yours too.
