This week I received a totally unexpected and generous gift that brought me to tears.
It was from one of my devoted Stop Drop And Dance students, Lorna, and her 2 daughters who also come to dance, Cece and Georgia.
First, I pulled out this super soft sweater from Grayson Threads with GRATEFUL on it. Grateful is the title of one of the songs I added to my dance playlist this year. Grateful is how my heart feels each time I show up to class and can’t believe there are so many others who need dance in their lives. Grateful is how I feel about my family and all the blessings in my life.
But there was more in the gift bag.
A gold and black box with 230 inspirational intentions and quotations, beginning with, DON’T BE AFRAID TO BE AMAZING.
Wow that struck me hard.
And I got choked up, because, that sentence nailed it.
The truth is, I am terrified starting @stopdropanddance. I have wanted to for 5 years now, but I always told myself I was not good enough. Special enough. Smart enough. Brave enough.
Who am I to think I can start a new dance movement? Who am I to put myself out there in all forms of social media? Who am I to stand in front of a crowd of dancers and lead them?
I’ve shared that my 2020 intention is FAITH. I believe in Stop Drop And Dance, and finally I have the courage to do something to grow it. I have the courage to make many mistakes. I have the courage to say, maybe.
Maybe it’s something.
I don’t ever want to say to myself, “I am amazing.” But I DO want to create an amazing dance experience. I DO want my students to leave class feeling amazing. I DO want to create an amazing community of dancers who are humble, loving, and happy.
Grateful. Amazing. Faith. I’m ready for you, 2020.
What terrifying, but amazing gift, do you want to share with the world?
We are excited to find out. I believe in YOU.
