Ali's 50th & Lynne's Breast Cancer Fundraiser!

April 22, 2024

April 22, 2024

Dear Friends,

Happy 50th Birthday Alison Williams!

Please join us this Thursday, April 25th at 9:30am at UUMarin (240 Channing Way, San Rafael) for a 75 minute Stop Drop and Dance birthday class to celebrate Alison Williams!

We really appreciate Ali because she was one of our original dancers from when we started Stop Drop and Dance at Marin Power Yoga, and she stayed dedicated dancing during the pandemic on Zoom and in the parking lot of Pelo Fitness until our current venues now at UU Marin and The Garage! Ali also went on both of our Tulum and Belize retreats, and will be joining us next year in Bali too (sold out).

Ali has chosen a "Spring Flowers" theme, so please wear anything floral that you can workout in!

Lynne Yuster's Breast Cancer Fundraiser This Saturday!

Please join Lynne Yuster this Saturday, April 27th at 9:30am at"The Garage" (1 Thorndale Drive, San Rafael) as we dance and raise money for the Sister to Sister Breast Health Program!

It would mean a lot to Lynne to see all of you gathered together in-person and be surrounded by your love!

Come dressed in pink workout clothing and bring your water bottles! If you are new or uncomfortable with dancing, please know that there are no mirrors and it is a safe, joyful, and loving community of people who just love music and movement! The only person that needs to let go of judgment and perfection is yourself. All that matters is coming with an open mind and an open heart!

Even if you cannot make it, we appreciate your donation.  All donors will receive a recording of class for the following week so that you can dance from home at your own convenience.

A personal message from Lynne Yuster, our Breast Cancer fundraiser host for this Saturday, April 27th at 9:30am in "The Garage"

Dear Family and Friends,

I am so thrilled to announce my Third Annual Breast Cancer Charity event in which I will be partnering with the incredible Grace Yu with The Power of Grace for an uplifting dance class for adults and kids.

For those that don’t know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer during the winter of 2021 and each year since then I have held special events to honor and give back to breast cancer charities that resonate deeply with me.

Early detection is what saved my life. For that I am grateful. But for many women in our community breast cancer prevention services, mammograms and other life saving resources are not easily accessible.

For that reason I chose the organization Sister to Sister Breast Health Program affiliated with CPMC as my charitable recipient this year. It is an organization that serves woman at high risk who may not have access to life saving breast cancer testing based on their race, socioeconomic status, or lifestyle.

All women (and men) deserve a chance at living a healthy, cancer free life. No life is of more value than another.

Hope you can join me for this very special day! It would mean the world to me to have you there to support this important cause. Let’s save lives together!

Much Love,

Lynne Yuster

Happy Birthday Stephanie Plante!

This past Saturday, we came dressed up in our 70’s workout clothes to “celebrate good times” in Stop Drop and Dance class with Stephanie Plante!

Stephanie picked some of the fun classics for her 75 minute mix including but not limited to, “We Are Family” by Sister Sledge, “Respect” by Aretha Franklin, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” Remix by Whitney Houston and David Solomon, “Jump (For My Love)” by The Pointer Sisters and “Celebration” by Kool & The Gang!

Even though Stephanie only pops in to a few classes each year, she has still been a consistent dancer with us for years! She took on the challenge of dancing up front for most of class and did an amazing job picking up all the choreography! Thank you to everyone who was able to join us last Saturday morning!

Happy birthday Stephanie and hope to see you again soon!

Marin Catholic Dance Fundraiser!

Last night we danced in the MC Club (aka gym) as part of the Marin Catholic Auction Fundraiser and raised over $1500!  As the sun started to set outside, the energy picked up with every song inside.  It was a sweaty and fun night, followed by snacks, refreshments and conversation!

Our hosts went above and beyond to make this an extra spectacular event.

  • Thank you to Erin Meyers for coordinating and being the extra organized ringleader with a spreadsheet that looked like what I had on my wedding day.
  • Thank you to Barb Untermann for unloading a container (not exaggerating) of professional decorations including, but not limited to, balloon columns and balloon arches, a handsewn neon backdrop, light up inflatable pineapple trees, blacklights, disco lights, and even a "neon carpet" entrance.
  • Thank you to Lisa Butcher, Keala Landry, Angela Hart and Lisa Parker for baking and making so many goodies from meatballs, fruit kabobs, veggie cups, cookies, and rice krispies to even cocktails and mocktails!
  • Thank you to Meghan Dasher for being in charge of making sure all guests were decked out with glowing wearables from sunglasses to bracelets to rings and even flower crowns!
  • Finally, thank you to Sandy Starkey for opening up the Marin Catholic gym and helping to set up and breakdown tables, garbage cans, chairs, and even our neon carpet stancions!

Thank you to everyone who attended and donated to support Marin Catholic School!

Genuine FUN!

"Music does a lot of things for a lot of people.  It's transporting, for sure.  It can take you right back, years back, to the very moment certain things happened in your life.  It's uplifting, it's encouraging, it's strengthening."
